Fitness Australia offer AusREPs (REPs) the opportunity to attain CECs from approved programs through a broad range of areas. The knowledge and skills involved in running a successful business are consistently sought after by REPs due to the nature of industry and the high proportion of sole trading businesses.
The business development knowledge and skills obtained through approved CEC programs build on the existing VET qualification business units of competency that have been determined by the industry as necessary core knowledge and skills.
It is important to note that whilst registrants can obtain CECs through business based programs, the majority (>90%) of our approved CEC programs build on the specific knowledge and skills of exercise delivery.
These changes are a result of extensive consultation, research and feedback from a broad range of stakeholders.

Furthermore professionals expressed a desire for a more meaningful method for recognition of ongoing education, rather than only initial or core qualifications. Business owners also expressed the need to be confident that professionals have completed the necessary ongoing education to deliver their various services and to manage this compliance element efficiently.
The system enhancements are intended to provide a more accurate profile of professional expertise and to clearly indicate to consumers the variety and availability of professional services. They also aim to provide valid levels for progression and a more systematic approach to increasing individual professional competency and workforce capacity.
