Fitness Australia is working in partnership with Alzheimer’s Australia to promote the benefits of physical activity for brain health.
The fitness industry is equipped to play a part in brain health and reducing the risk of dementia, with the release of two new resources today by Alzheimer’s Australia in partnership with Fitness Australia, the peak industry association.
Alzheimer’s Australia’s Your Brain Matters program is based on scientific evidence that a number of health and lifestyle factors that we can all do something about are associated with brain function and the risk of developing dementia.
Two new resources, The Brain Health Checklist and Brain Health Guidelines, will provide simple steps that exercise professionals and their clients can take to ensure that they are considering brain health as part of their training program.
It takes 5 Simple Steps to Maximise Your Brain Health and it’s important that Australians are mindful of the range of factors that need to be thought about when it comes to overall health.
The 5 Simple Steps to Maximising Brain Health include:
- Looking after your heart
- Doing some kind of physical activity
- Mentally challenging your brain
- Following a healthy diet
- Enjoying social activity
